Abby Liu joined the McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) in 2010 and spearheads business recruitment domestically and abroad, promoting McKinney as the premier city for business relocation and growth. During her tenure with MEDC, she has played a primary role in recruiting six noteworthy companies to McKinney. Four of the companies are on the Fortune 500/Global 2000 list and half of the companies are internationally based.
Notable initiatives led by Liu include attracting the North American headquarters of Wistron GreenTech Texas Corp. in 2012, a Fortune Global 2000 company headquartered in Taiwan after a two-year global site selection process. In 2013, she successfully brought the headquarters relocation for Raytheon SAS (Space and Airborne System), a Fortune 500 company, to McKinney from El Segundo, California. Liu was instrumental in bringing the North American headquarters of Hisun Motors Corp. USA, headquartered in China, as well as Barclays, a Fortune Global 500 company headquartered in England, to McKinney in 2014. Liu led the recruitment and negotiated the deal to establish the Service First Mortgage U.S. corporate headquarters in McKinney in 2016. After more than a year of recruiting efforts, Liu played a key role in bringing PACCAR, a Fortune 500 company and the parent company of truck manufacturers Peterbilt and Kenworth, to McKinney in 2017.
Liu earned a Master of Arts degree in International Management Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan. She is a graduate of the 1993 Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and a 2012 graduate of Leadership McKinney. Liu was also awarded a Certificate of Completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, July 2013, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education.
