The City of McKinney is proud to announce McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Vice President Abby Liu has been selected for Consultant Connect’s 2017 list of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers. The economic development professionals were chosen for excellent practices, innovation and success in building the communities they serve. Liu was nominated for exemplifying an innovative spirit, a commitment to collaboration and an overall passion for the industry.
Liu joined MEDC in 2010 and spearheads business recruitment domestically and abroad, promoting McKinney as the premier city for business relocation and growth.
She has been instrumental in leading significant initiatives in McKinney including attracting Fortune 500 companies Wistron GreenTech Texas Corporation and Raytheon SAS (Space and Airborne System), and the North American headquarters of Hisun Motors Corporation. Liu led the recruitment and negotiated the deal to establish the Service First Mortgage corporate headquarters in McKinney in 2016 and the expansion of Simpson Strong-Tie.
“Abby has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining strong connections with international companies to promote our city as a great place to start and grow a business,” said Mayor Brian Loughmiller. “Her success is evident in the number of international businesses she has played a part in recruiting to McKinney.”
