McKinney has Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZ) for two areas in the city prime for development and redevelopment.
The TIRZ Number 1, also referred to as the Town Center TIRZ, consists of approximately 950 acres within the historic Town Center along S.H. 5 from U.S. 380 to the Spur 399 / U.S. 75 interchange. TIRZ Number 2, also referred to as the Airport TIRZ, has boundaries that include the McKinney National Airport and surrounding areas.
Qualifying companies located within the zones can make application for state tax incentives.
